So recently Rihanna has taken a lot of criticism for her part in the song about abused women in the Eminem song Love the Way You Lie. I think that this is unfair. Who better to sing about a woman who keeps going back to an abusive man than Rihanna? If anything this songs sends a positive message to women. Eminem’s lyrics are deep and really hit home portraying the inner thoughts of an abusive relationship. he perfectly captures the abusers inner turmoil, and shows how the abuser constantly regains his girlfriends trust only to repeat the cycle again. The song if listened to thoroughly, sends the message to young women that physical abusers do not change, and will hit you again…or even do something worse. This blogger thinks that the message was only made more powerful by using the voice of Rihanna who publicly admitted being physically abused. The amount of teenage girls who are in physically abusive relationships in this country is on the rise. Eminem the father of two young girls brilliantly helped spread the message to young girls that this is not okay and should not be accepted. He also hits home when mentioning that if you stay, one day you may lose your life. I say Kudos to Rihanna and Eminem for spreading this powerful message! I only hope that your young audience really takes the time to listen!

  2. I think that sometimes we all look into all of this too much. Who is to say who the song is about other than Eminem? I think that should all stop assuming and step back. Who are we to say? I know that I certainly did not have a personal conversation with Eminem about it… Did you?

  4. It seems to me that rather than worrying about what people think as far as who it is from we should view the message. I hope that this song helps women out there who are afraid and living in abusive situations. It is a great song and Eminem should be proud of the message behind it!

  6. I would love to know the numbers behind the rise in teenage girls thinking that they can be abused. It is hard to imagine that the girls would put up with that at such a young age.
Eminem certainly has a vested interest with two young girls of his own. As a father I know that I want to send all of the right messages to my girls.

  8. Rather than gossip why this song was written or who Eminem had in mind while writing it we should be proud of Rihanna. The fact of the matter is that she said that this is not acceptable for her. She realized that she is better than a man who hits her! I think that this message is one of the biggest of all!
